About Orlando, FL

Orlando is the gem of Central Florida. It’s home to more than a dozen theme parks like the famous Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and Sea World. While those attractions bring in millions of tourists every year, people living in Orlando love the city for many other reasons. From its exciting nightlife to gorgeous lakes, living in Orlando offers the perfect balance of entertainment, convenience, and natural beauty.

Orlando has a lot of living options available. Residential Orlando was developed during the 1920s “City Beautiful” movement with canopied oaks and lakefront cottages and scenic parks. In Orlando, you’re never far from natural beauty whether you’re living in a high-rise apartment or a quaint little bungalow. You can live in a historic district or an arts district. One of the most desirable neighborhoods in Orlando is the Lake Cherokee Historic District for its Oak-lined streets and renovated homes. Park Lake-Highland is another popular area with Colonial, ranch, and Mediterranean-style homes. The Mills 50 District offers a wide selection of eateries and local art galleries and hosts events that focus on local food and music. The neighborhood’s two scenic lakes—Lake Highland and Park Lake provide a refreshing variety of waterfront activities. Orlando is known for fairly affordable home prices. The median sold home price is about $362K.

Children in Orlando attend schools that are part of the Orange County Public School District. It’s the 4th largest district in Florida and boasts excellent graduation rates and top scholars as graduates. There are also several private school options as well.

Things To Do In Orlando

Downtown Orlando is always alive with energy from the eclectic mix of restaurants, bars, arts, and live entertainment nearly every day of the week. Amway Center is located in the City District, which is home to the Orlando Magic and hosts top-rated concerts and performances. Foodies will thrive in Orlando with multiple Michelin-Starred restaurants like the swanky Capa Steakhouse located at the Four Seasons Resort inside Disney World.

You’ll never be lacking in things to do in Orlando. Head out on the West Orange Trail for a bike ride or stroll along 22+ miles of paved pathway. You can also hit the Orlando Urban Trail which is about three miles long and includes connections to several lakes and parks. Lake Eola Park is located in the heart of Downtown Orlando, with a sidewalk that circles the lake. You can take in the Orlando skyline, rent paddle boats, or listen to an outdoor concert.

And last but not least, you can’t forget about the world-famous amusement parks that truly put Orlando on the map. Universal Orlando Resort is three amusement parks rolled into one, including Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay. Disney World is always a favorite and so are Sea World and LEGOLand. Florida residents can get nice discounts at many amusement parks that aren’t available to tourists.
